Joe Townhill
PGA Professional (Class AA)
Head Teaching Professional
Joe has over 10 years experience coaching golf to all levels. His knowledge of the swing has been helped by attending coaching seminars over the years and constantly studying golf coaching to be able to pass over as much knowledge to his pupils as possible. To help his pupils see and understand their strengths and weaknesses he uses video/computer analysis and can e-mail pictures and points to help remember the content of a lesson. If you are interested in improving your game give Joe a call to discuss a programme of tuition to meet your needs.
The Brough Golf Club Junior Academy is a structured programme of tuition for children aged 5 – 12 years old. These lessons provide an opportunity to learn the game at a young age and progress to membership of the Club. Lessons take place on Saturdays, Sundays and during school holidays throughout the year. The first Junior Academy Tournament was held in May 2007 with children as young as 5 years old taking part on the full course with special tee distances measuring a maximum of 150 yards per hole. Further tournaments will take place throughout the season.
Although busy with coaching commitments during the season he still competes in professional tournaments on the North Region and Yorkshire PGA circuits. Recent successes include qualifying for the British Club Professionals Championship in 2004 by scoring 69 (-3) in the qualifier at Moortown Golf Club. In 2005 Joe won the Yorkshire PGA Pro-Am at Springhead Park scoring 68 (-3). Last year he was the leader at the halfway stage of the East Riding Open but a disappointing final round saw him finish in 4th place.

Qualification?
The prospective members must be taking lessons as an individual or in group sessions with our professional staff. The professional will certify that the player is a beginner but is reaching a level of competence where he would benefit from Academy status (without detriment to the Club).
Entry Fee?
There will be no entry fee as such but the player will pay a green fee subscription equal to 3 months of the current subscription for his/her age group in advance.
Benefit?
For the subscription the player will get use of the practice ground and Club house facilities. He/she may use the course mid week and Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays after three o'clock.
What next?
He or she may renew his/her subscription for another three months.
After this initial six month period the player may elect to join the Club and the monies already paid will be deducted from the normal entry fee, the remainder of that fee being payable over three years. The player will however go through the normal interview procedures.
Addition
A Committee member must play with the Academy member in their first game as a welcome to the Club and to advise golfing etiquette.
If you are interested in taking up this green fee offer, please complete the attached form and return with your payment to either Joe Townhill or the Office located within the Clubhouse.
